Take a Tour of the Jelly Belly Factory

Take a tour of the factory where Jelly Belly jelly beans are made. Located in Fairfield, about an hour drive from San Francisco, the factory is open for tours daily.

Walking tours run throughout the day and guides will lead you through the plant. The factory is in operation on weekdays, but shuts down on weekends. On weekends, you can still tour the plant, but a video shows the machines in operation. Tours start every 15 minutes, last about 40 minutes, and are free.

Of course, what tour of a candy factory would be complete without free samples. After the tour, sample any of their candies and Jelly Belly beans at the Sampling Bar. Watch as they make hand-dipped chocolates in the exhibition candy kitchen.

Have lunch at the Jelly Belly Cafe. Hamburgers and pizza are featured along with an espresso bar and ice cream counter. An outdoor patio and picnic area are also available. Cafe hours are 11 am to 3 pm.

Hours of Operation

The Jelly Belly visitor center is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm. The last tour starts at 4 pm. The center is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's and Easter and in some cases the day immediately before or after the holiday.

The visitor center and factory are wheelchair and stroller accessible.

• Get there early to avoid a long wait for the tour.
  
• Go on a weekday to see the machines in operation.
  
• Look for Belly Flops (irregular Jelly Bellys) in the candy shop for a great discount on Jelly Bellys.
  
• Allow about an hour and 15 minutes for your visit (excluding driving time and meals).

Directions from the San Francisco Bay Area

Take Hwy 80 out of San Francisco or the East Bay toward Sacramento. Take the Hwy 12 exit toward Rio Vista/Suisun City.
Turn right on Chadburne Rd . Turn left on Courage Dr. Turn left on North Watney Way. Turn left on Jelly Belly Way.
